ITANAGAR, Jan 9: The Arunachal Civil Society (ACS) on Wednesday with the support of various student organizations and Arunachal Pradesh Youth Congress (APYC) held a peaceful mass protest rally from Akashdeep to the Tennis Court in protest against the proposed construction of state BJP office here at Tennis court premises.
In his address, ACS chairman Patey Tayum criticized the state government for breaking its own rules by giving allotment to a portion of public utility space for purpose of political activity.
Furthermore ACS chief also questioned the state government if they are trying to implement the rule of dictatorship in the state?
Arunachal Pradesh Youth Congress, (APYC), President, Geli Ete also lambasted the BJP government for trying to snatch the lone recreational place used to voice issues and grievances by society at large.
Further ridiculing the proposal made by Chief Minister to provide an area to stage democratic protests in another location, he demanded immediate cancellation of the land allotment order granted to the BJP.
Meanwhile, the North East Human Rights Organization (NEHRO) (state Unit) also opposed the move terming it totally anti-people and despotic act.
Citing the tennis court as the lone spot to stage democratic movement in the state, it urged the Chief Minister to reconsider the decision and immediately cancel the land allotment order.
