ITANAGAR, Jan 3: The Arunachal Indigenous Students’ Union (AISU) on Friday conducted a peaceful rally from Ganga Market to IG Park demanding an immediate and permanent expatriation of all Chakma-Hajong, Rohingya muslims and Tibetan refugees from the state.
While stating that influx of refugees and illegal immigrant workers is already high in the state many of whom are settlers since decades, AISU has demanded continuous and strict Inner Line Permit (ILP) checking at all border check gates by the state home department. Besides demanding deportation of the refugees, the union has also demanded immediate installation of biometric attendance system in all government schools, renaming of Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU) to Arunachal University and Indira Gandhi Park to Abo Tani Park.
Shifting of all government and private schools away from the vicinity of National Highway, blanket ban on selling of alcohol, monthly release of stipends to post-matric and matric students and inclusion of Arunachal History as a subject in Class III-IX syllabi were the other demands made by AISU.
