ITANAGAR, May 10:In order to promote the spirit of excellence in the field of academics amongst the children and wards of the Raj Bhavan employees including employees of other departments attached to it, the Governor PB Acharya has instituted three awards in different categories. The first category will be for students from Class I to V, the second category for students from Class VI to VII and the third category for students of Class IC and above.

The Governor said as the officers and staffers of Raj Bhavan maintain the highest standard of work culture, discipline, punctuality and dedication, their children also must be encouraged to inculcate those values. ‘It can only be done by empowering the wards through education,’ he said.

The Governor expressed hope that these awards will encourage the students towards academic excellence and at the same time encourage other institutions to starts such initiatives for the welfare of the children of their employees

These awards are one of the many initiatives taken up by Governor Acharya. An amount of Rs.1 lakh has been kept in the fixed deposit as corpus fund for the purpose and interest accrued each year will be used for the awards, which will be in kind. A certificate for each award winner will be given from the Raj Bhavan.
