Itanagar, Jan 24: In the spirit of ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’, a mass movement started by Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi, Arunachal Pradesh Raj Bhavan celebrated the Uttar Pradesh Diwas along with the people of Uttar Pradesh residing in the State, at Raj Bhavan, Itanagar today. The Governor Lt. General KT Parnaik (Retd.), along with the First Lady of the State Anagha Parnaik participated in the programme, which had the aroma of Ganga–Jamuni Tehzeeb.
The Governor greeted the people of Uttar Pradesh on their Statehood Day, particularly those who are in the State in different professions and business. He conveyed greetings and gratitude to them on behalf of all Arunachalis for their contributions in the developmental progress of the State.
Recalling the history of Uttar Pradesh, the Governor said that the history of Uttar Pradesh is synonymous with the history of India. He said that the State of Uttar Pradesh, with its rich cultural heritage, art and culture and revolutionary activities has immensely contributed to the freedom movement and progress of India. Today, it is the centre of development, IT hub and religiously most sought State, he said.    
Highlight of the programme were Geeta Paath by Viswanath Sharma, Vice Chancellor, Arunodaya University, Gaon Aa Gaya (Poetry Recitation) by Dr. KP Singh, Rajiv Gandhi University, traditional Kajri Folk Dance by Dakshita Dubey, Priya Singh and Shaurya Singh and Phaguwa (Holi Geet) by team led by Dr. V. Mishra.
The special invitees included students from government school, destitute home and physically challenged children also attended the programme.
As a token of love, Dr. Vaishali Kushwaha, wife of Prof. S. Kushwaha, Vice Chancellor, Rajiv Gandhi University presented a model of Ram Mandir, Geeta and traditional shawl to the Governor and the First Lady of the State on behalf of the people of Uttar Pradesh residing in Arunachal Pradesh.
The Governor and the First Lady of the State interacted with them over a high tea.
