NAMSAI, Jul 11: Incessant rain over the last few days has submerged the low areas of Lekang Circle in Namsai district and flash floods have added to the misery of the inhabitants.
Paddy fields, crops and vegetable gardens are under water and to assess the situation, EAC Lekang along with DDMO Namsai visited the affected areas and distributed packaged water and tarpaulins to the sufferers and assured them further help.
The havoc created by the flood waters of Nao-Dehing and Jengthu rivers has severely affected the areas like Rangalibeel, Rajabeel, Silatoo, Balotra, Bhogamur, Bihari-Tapu etc. 35 houses in Rajabeel and 18 houses in Bihari-Tapu have been ravaged and the dwellers have been shifted to safer places.
The log bridge at Upper Silatoo, boulder spur at Deobeel, flood protection embankment at Napotia village, bamboo structure constructed by the local community at Rangalibeel have also been badly damaged. DIPRO
