ITANAGAR, Apr 26:Tourism Secretary Dr. Joram Beda on Wednesday flagged off rafting expedition at Siang River in Geku. 'Siang Rush 2018', the three day expedition is being organized by Abor Country Travel & Expedition in support of Department of Tourism, Government of Arunachal Pradesh.

In his address to the participants from various organizations like travel writer, film maker, govt officials, adventure tour  operators, etc who have been coined as friends of Siang, Dr Beda told that the state has huge potential in white water rafting which Siang River is also one of the best destinations.

He further said that the department is ready to make this event as national championship event from next year.

The tourism secretary also added the department is trying to make various parts of the state as the best tourism destination.

Event Organizer Oken Tayeng told that the idea of organizing ‘Siang Rush 2018’ is just to make River system of Siang as rafting spot.

He further said that the rafting event if properly tapped will boost the local economy.

The expedition team will be put out at Pasighat on April 27 next.

Three kayak experts and a river guide is also participating in the Siang Rush 2018
