ITANAGAR, Dec 16: Hundreds of students took to the street against the recent statement made by Chief Minister Pema Khandu and Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein on granting Permanent Resident Certificate (PRC) to Non-APST of Lekang Constituency as New Year gift.
Holding placards and banners, group of students shouted slogans against CM and DCM and demanded to withdraw their statement. They also marched towards the official bungalow of Deputy Chief Minister but were stopped by security forces at Niti Vihar.
‘There is already Joint High Power Committee to discuss and frame rules on PRC to Non-APST, then why is the state government especially DCM in a hurry to grant PRC to Non-APST,’ lamented the agitators.
We don’t want another Tripura like situation where outsiders outnumber the indigenous people. Granting of PRC to Non-APST will open the Pandora ’s Box, added another.
