KOLORIANG, Apr 25: In view of the re-polling at Kurung Kumey scheduled to be held this Friday, the concerned Deputy Commissioner has imposed 144 CrPC in the district headquarters prohibiting the carrying and display of any type of lethal weapons/daos, arms till completion of the election process.
“Information has been received that some individuals are openly carrying arms/lethal weapons and displaying such weapons in the jurisdiction of Kurung Kumey district which is a violation of the model code of conduct. Therefore it is expedient to regulate all such acts and activities which are detrimental to public safety and have potential to disrupt the poll process,” the DC order stated.
It is also learned that persons who are not electors of these polling stations are also reaching these stations with the intention to create violence and disrupt poll process.
The order further prohibits non-natives from entering the jurisdiction of the polling stations till completion of the election process. The order also directed the concerned Superintendent of Police (SP) to deploy sufficient number of security forces in sensitive pockets.ES Newsdesk
