ITANAGAR, Jun 23: Education Minister Taba Tedir today said that infrastructure set up and other regulatory compliances must be met by all private universities and the quality and standard of education must be of the highest standard. 
He also mentioned that National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) accreditation is a must for higher educational institutes and assured all support to private universities on issues pertaining to NAAC assessment and accreditation.
Tedir was speaking at a meeting to review the functioning of Private Universities in Arunachal Pradesh with the Vice-chancellors and Registrars of all the Private Universities, Chairman and Member of Arunachal Pradesh Private Educational Institution Regulatory Commission (APPEIRC) and Director of Higher and Technical Education and other office-bearers.
The education minister took stock of the infrastructural development and shifting of the Private Universities at their permanent sites and improving the quality of education at par with all the private universities functioning in the country. 
Stating that education is the only means to develop good human beings, Tedir  exhorted all stakeholders to work relentlessly in team spirit to provide quality education to every student of the state. 
MLA cum advisor to education minister, Kento Rina suggested that everybody must discharge their duty as per the established norms and must not compromise the quality of education.
While addressing the gathering, Commissioner (Education), Padmini Singla highlighted the role of the private sector in providing education to students and urged the universities to achieve the targets of 2022-23 under National Education Policy 2020. She gave the list of 16 actionable points as circulated by the Higher Education department for proper implementation of NEP 2020 provisions in the state. 
Chairman, APPEIRC, Marnya Ete and member Dr H K Sardana told the universities to create proper infrastructure as per the laid down standards and meet up their deficiencies as was found during the inspection of the private universities by the Commission. He highlighted other regulatory compliances for the universities.
Director, Higher and Technical Education, Alik Jongkey while welcoming the dignitaries highlighted the role of the higher education directorate to have a better academic ambience in the state. He informed the house about the initiatives taken up by the department to improve the quality of education as per the set guidelines of UGC and NAAC.
All seven private universities’ vice-chancellors presented their report card before the house and open discussion was held on the matters pertaining to higher education.
