ITANAGAR, Apr 29: A price monitoring & control team led by CO Nikita Panggam and assisted by the officers of LMCA on Wednesday carried out inspection in Capital Region to check price escalation of essential and packaged commodities.
The LMCA officers comprised Assistant Controller Taba Tabin and Inspectors Debia Tana & Taw Tassar and the team while carrying out the inspection drive sealed M/s Ghar Sanasar General Store belonging to one Vijay Kumar in C-Sector, opposite NHM office, Naharlagun as he was found keeping pan masala, cigarettes etc for sale which was in violation of DM’s April 25 order. Moreover, there were also complaints that he was selling the said articles at exorbitant prices to consumers taking undue advantage of the lockdown. He was booked under Section 36 of the Legal Metrology Act 2009 with specific charge of violating rule 6 of Legal Metrology (Packaged Commodities) Rules 2011, informed Tabin.
The team also inspected the trading premises at Gumto check gate, Emchi, Amba and Doimukh areas and advised the shopkeepers to sell essential commodities at government approved rates & directed them to sell all packaged commodities at MRPs only. Warning of drastic action was also issued if violations of relevant Acts, Rules or government orders are detected.  
Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Komkar Dulom informed that Capital District Administration has been regularly carrying out such checking drives in Capital Region and the same would continue in coming days.  
He directed the business community to abide by the rules and regulations or face strict action and also appealed them to be  helpful to the distressed people, reiterating that gullible citizens should not be overcharged at this time of crisis. DC while acknowledging that there are many good businessmen who are coming forward with ration aids to the stranded persons, also reminded that strict action will be taken against the manipulators taking undue advantage of the situation.
Underscoring the recent order which has made spitting in public place an offence with sale of pan and gutka also prohibited in Capital Region, DC appealed the denizens in keeping the twin capitals clean and disease-free. He further stressed on public awareness for containment of the spitting habit and called for prompt information sharing with the DA to check such violations. DIPRO
