ITANAGAR, Jun 3: The People’s Party of Arunachal today appealed the Election Commission of India to conduct elections in Arunachal Pradesh by ballot papers while expressing uncertainty over electronic voting machines (EVMs).
In its press statement, PPA informed that on invitation of the State Election Commission, a team of PPA, National People's Party (NPP), and Indian National Congress (INC) went to DC's office, Yupia to be briefed about the robustness, reliability, and working of the EVMs in presence of the officials of Electronic Corporation of India Limited (ECIL), the company that manufactures and maintains EVMs.
However during the process it was found that five out of six control units of EVMs had malfunctioned, claimed the PPA in its press communiqué while adding that the reliability and robustn
