ITANAGAR, Feb 15: A daylong Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) demonstration and training programme to political parties was held today at CEO's conference hall, Nirvachan Bhawan, Itanagar.
While welcoming the participants, Lod Takkar, Nodal Officer, Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) said that the workshop has been convened to give hands on training on EVM-VVPAT. Being one of the important stakeholders in the entire electoral process every party should clear their doubts on all the processes, he added.
Additional Chief Electoral Officer, Kangki Darang informed that every effort is being made by the ECI to make election free, fair and transparent. Informing on the additional requirements of information in affidavit to be filed by the candidates during nomination, he said that as per directions of Supreme Court, contesting candidates who have criminal cases against them — either pending or convicted shall publish a declaration about such cases for wide publicity in news papers and TV channels. The declaration has to be published at least on three different dates from the day following the last day of withdrawal of candidatures and up-to two days before the date of poll.
Further, National Level Master Trainer Tamo Riba, explained the working of EVM-VVPAT in detail. Nirvachan Bhawan
