PASIGHAT, Mar 10: East Siang joined the nationwide campaign against polio virus with the launch of Intensified Pulse Polio Immunization (IPPI) drive across the district on Sunday. According to DMO Dr. Kaling Dai, out of 6999 targeted children, 5854 children were immunized on the first day in the district and two-day house survey-cum-immunization would be carried for the left-outs. DC-cum-chairman, District Health Society (DHS), Dr. Kinny Singh launched the programme by administering polio drops to a child at the Bakin Pertin General Hospital, Pasighat in presence of DMO Dr. M. Perme, MS Dr. YR Darang, DRCHO Dr. T. Gao and paramedical staff.
Speaking on the occasion, DC stressed for ensuring 100% vaccine coverage of targeted children below 5 years under IPPI by deploying adequate men, materials and equipment and reaching out to the doorsteps of the citizens of the district. She instructed the DMO to constantly monitor performance and said that active participation and coordinated efforts of paramedical staff could dramatically improve the immunization percentage.
