PASIGHAT, Nov 10: Coming down heavily on modified, unregistered and defective silencers in bikes, Pasighat police led by OC Atan Taki seized 19 motorcycles during a random check conducted on Friday. Police ended up collecting a huge amount as fine from those who modified their bikes. Going a step further, police forced them to correct their motorcycles with the help of mechanics, inside the police station premise.
Meanwhile, DC Tamiyo Tatak stated that rash and negligent driving and drag racing not only endanger lives of the motorists but also pedestrians, especially children and senior citizens. 
SP Prashant Gautam appreciated efforts of the police team comprising Inspector Atan Taki (OC), ASIs T. Jamoh, J. Kamchi, HCs Dijen Bori, Opang Gao, Lolit Regon, Cts Tlong Mungray, Wangcha Lowang, Mijem Rome and Tugo Kamdak. Gautam appealed to the citizens to extend cooperation and support the police in making Pasighat pollution and accident free. 
OC Atan Taki informed that keeping a check on rising noise pollution, police conducted the special drive and took action against bikers for modifying their vehicles. According to the Motor Vehicles Act, alteration of any vehicle beyond the original manufacturer’s specifications is a violation, he added.
