ITANAGAR, Sep 19: In a major breakthrough, the Capital Police solved the murder case of Pachin Colony, Naharlagun and arrested three minors in this connection today. On September 5 last, unknown miscreants killed a woman (Aisha Bano) and injured her husband Ramzan Ali of Noibosa village, North Lakhimpur, Assam with a sharp weapon.
Superintendent of Police, Capital Harsh Vardhan informed that the three accused hail from Kurung Kumey District and were currently residing in Naharlagun.
‘The trio has confessed to the crime and disclosed that they were under heavy influence of contraband substances at the time of the incident. They also confessed that they used a machete and that their actual motive was robbery,’ added the SP.
The SP further informed that they will be pleading the court to invoke the recent Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Bill 2018 and put the accused aged 16 and above under trial as an adult.
Commenting on the investigation, Harsh Vardhan informed that they had to adopt various investigative approaches as they had no clues whatsoever. He also lauded Naharlagun SDPO Make Bui and SI Sushant Jha for their hard work and detailed investigation in solving the case.
Meanwhile, the SP sought cooperation and support of the public while stating “whether it is a case involving a person from Assam or Arunachal, a crime is taken seriously by the police. We should avoid giving it a communal colour.”
Recently, All Assam Minority Students’ Union (AAMSU) protested against Chief Minister Pema Khandu and Assam CM Sarbananda Sonowal demanding immediate arrest of the culprits and compensation to the victim.
