In a major breakthrough, the Naharlagun police team led by  SI, S.S Jha, SI, D.Pakam and associates under the supervision of SP Capital M.Harsha Vardhan, SDPO Naharlagun Make Bui arrested suave ‘jewel thief’, 25-year-old Tapum Godak and recovered stolen property worth lakhs of rupees.

Godak’s arrest has led to the closing of several burglary cases registered in Naharalgun and other police stations,” according to police source.

 

Meanwhile, Capital SP M Harsha Vardhan informed that following multiple complaints of thefts of local jewellery like beads etc, a special team was constituted who after rigorous search operation arrested the alleged accused from Naharlagun on November 15 last.

 

He said, after days of interrogation the accused finally broke down and led the police team to the place where he hid the stolen jewels. “The value of the recovered jewels from his possession is estimated to be about 90 lakh rupees” the SP said. The SP further disclosed that effort is on to arrest his partners in crime.

 

Godak is a resident of Kamle district and wanted in cases related to thefts in numerous police stations.
