Wakro, Nov 3: In a massive joint operation launched by Wakro Police and 20 Madras Regiment, a makeshift camp of the underground outfit Eastern Naga National Government (ENNG) was busted and a number of its cadres were arrested here at Kathan under Wakro Circle of Lohit district on November 2 last.
Based on specific inputs, the team launched the operation in wee hours of Saturday and climbed steep hills at a height of approximately 5426 meters to reach the camp after a 5-hour journey. “My boys including 20 Madras Regiment scrambled to reach the hillock where we dismantled the camp, the base from where all extortion activities were allegedly carried out,” informed OC Wakro, Thomas Pertin. Busting the camp was a big challenge since its out-of-reach location resulted in evading of police monitoring that allowed ENGG to carry out unlawful activities comfortably in villages. Utensils, rice bags, water tankers etc were recovered after successful operation which was carried out under close supervision of SP Lohit DW Thungon and Commandant, 20 Madras Regiment.    
It needs mentioning that the outlawed outfit had been involved in several cases of torching, threats to villagers of Kathan, Tumba and other adjoining villages since January 2019.
