NAHARLAGUN, Oct 4: A major mishap was averted at the Super Market area, Naharlagun here in the early hours of Thursday morning thanks to the alert firefighters and Police personnel from Nahralgun Police station who prevented the fire from spreading to adjacent buildings.
Sources told this daily that a fire broke out from one of the shops in the wee hours on Thursday morning. A team of police team patrolling nearby immediately alerted the Fire department and with joint effort successfully doused the fire. No loss of life or human injury was reported but few shops were gutted down.
Meanwhile, Capital SP, M Harsha Vardhan while lauding the personnel alertness said that it could be an intentional act and informed that a case of arson has been registered at Naharlagun Police station vide case No-179/18 u/s-436 IPC.
Naharlagun Fire Station Officer, Sujit Chakraborty lauded the police personnel and firefighters for their timely intervention saying that otherwise, it could have become one of the biggest fire mishaps in the state capital as there are more than hundreds of buildings, shops nearby the place of incident.
Meanwhile, All Arunachal Pradesh Hawkers and Street Vendors Federation (AAPHSVF) General Secretary Nabam Rojer lodged an FIR against unknown persons and asked the police to arrest the culprit involved in the incident. He appealed the district administration for providing compensation and for the restoration of the market shed at the earliest.
