ITANAGAR, Feb 8: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be laying the foundation stone for 7 EHV substations and 24 LT substations in the state’s capital Itanagar on Saturday, February 9. This project is fully funded by the government of India and shall help the state in meeting its power demands with a reliable power system. The completion of the project is expected to fuel industrialization in the region and give a boost to Arunachal’s economic development.
This project is a part of the central government’s comprehensive scheme for strengthening of transmission & distribution system in Arunachal Pradesh and is being implemented by Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID).
POWERGRID, the ‘Central Transmission Utility (CTU)’ of the country and a ‘Navratna’ company, is engaged in power transmission business with the responsibility for planning, co-ordination, supervision and control over inter-state transmission system and operation of national & regional power grids. It is one of the world’s largest power transmission utility, and has a wide network of 150,874 circuit kilometres transmission lines, with 238 sub-stations and a transformation capacity of 351,106 MVA.
