CHANGLANG, Nov 6: A Plastic Shredding Unit has been inaugurated today, by ADC, Bordumsa Dr Devansh Yadav, in presence of GM, NHIDCL & Senior Engineers of various departments.
The Plastic Shredding Unit is the initiative of ADC Bordumsa to use the plastic waste for construction of roads as well as to confer employments to local youths. The unit was installed with a cost of around Rs 7 lakhs for both procurement and installation in one acre of land generously donated by the villagers of Kumung Village, Bordumsa. The fund was managed by converging with Panchayat fund. 
ADC, Bordumsa Dr Devansh Yadav  informed that  the unit has a capacity of 150 to 200 kilograms of plastics per day. 4 tonnes of Single use plastic waste from Changlang, district has so far been collected and dispatched to Bordumsa which will be used for road construction by NHIDCL. Further plastic waste has also been received from Lohit and Namsai district. The NHIDCL has placed order for twenty-five ton of shredded plastic for road construction in the area, added the ADC.
He further added , that Plastic Shredding unit will presently be run and managed by local panchayat and plastic shredded will be supplied to the contractors for road construction.  The ADC said that it would provide employment to local youths and also help in managing the plastic waste in a sustainable manner.
T Roy Geneal Manager(Technical) –NHIDCL informed that  75 Kg of plastic waste was collected at three collection centres, Namely Pasighat, Bomjur and Kanubari for use in road construction. NHIDCL, Branch Office -Namsai has set up total target of 7 km of road construction using waste plastic, i.e. 4 KM for Kanubari-Longding Road and 3 KM for Pasighat-Bomjur Road.
‘We are thankful to the district administration of Changlang District & ADC, Borudmsa for taking initiative in setting up of Shredder plant at Bordumsa. Today we will start the initiative of using plastic waste in road construction by doing patch repair of Mahadevpur-Buridhing Road- NH 215,' added General Manager(Technical )–NHIDCL.
