BOMDILA, Jul 6: Plantation of over 3000 saplings of Illicum Griffithii saplings marked the 85th birth anniversary of the Dalai Lama in West Kameng district today.
At Bomdila, the plantation drive was headed by His Eminence the 12th Guru Tulku Rinpoche of the Thubchog Gatsel Ling Monastery (Lower Gompa), Deputy Commissioner Karma Leki and Superintendent of Police Raja Banthia.

Honoring the wishes of Dalai Lama in context with the worldwide pandemic, the colorful celebration part was skipped for the year. Instead, recitation of the mantra of Avalokiteshvara ‘Om Mani Pedme Hung’ for more than thousand times for the benefit of the sentient beings was impressed upon.
However, the ceremonial Sangsol and Serkyem offerings, reception of the portrait of His Holiness, Mandala offering and brief talk on the life and teachings of Dalai Lama by the 12th Guru Tulku Rinpoche were held following the necessary SOPs. DIPRO
