ITANAGAR, Jan 20: The All Arunachal Tribal Students’ Union (AATSU) organized a peaceful rally against the ‘Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA)’ here from the tennis court to Raj Bhawan, today.
Holding placards and banners the agitating protesters shouted slogans against the government and demanded immediate rollback of the CAA.
Speaking to reporters, President AATSU Techi Baba said the anti-CAA rally is to demand the Centre for the immediate rollback of the said draconian Act. 'AATSU also demands the state government to clear the status of Chakma and Hajong refugees settled in various districts of the state after implementation of the Act. As it is their duty to safeguard the state from the influx of illegal immigrants,' he added.
Baba, also, appealed for the proper implementation of Inner Line Permit (ILP) in the state, as the implementation of CAA will affect ILP, while appealing denizens of the state to come out from their comfort zone and join the movement against the CAA.
‘ILP cannot protect us from illegal immigrants as the state has already many Non-indigenous people staying here for many decades’ he asserted. He further informed AATSU will organize its second agitation in the form of dharna on January 22 next at Raj Bhawan, Itanagar and appealed all to join the dharna.
