PASIGHAT, Apr 14:  

Pasighat Municipal Council (PMC) on Thursday (April-13) evening held an appraisal meeting on Smart City Proposal (SCP) at the Pasighat Town Club. Member of core committee of Smart City Mission, Dr. Narmi Darang presented a detailed report on final proposal (recently submitted to the Union Ministry of Urban Development) through power point presentation and held open house discussions in presence of local MLA Kaling Moyong, DC Tamiyo Tatak, retired bureaucrats, municipal councilors, senior leaders, officers, representatives of ABK and youths.

 

Input received from the citizens like solar power project, smart public transport, intelligent water management, e-governance, sewage and sanitation, solid waste management, up-gradation of market area, Siang riverfront, area based redevelopment, retrofitting, urban mobility etc were included in the final proposal, appraised Dr. Darang during his presentation.

 

Local MLA Kaling Moyong who took personal interest and closely monitored all developments asserted that Pasighat would be an example of a ‘Carbon Neutral City’ sustaining its cultural heritage, harmonious diversity of its human capital, green economics and technologies and pristine nature. “We have worked together with our esteemed citizens to create a robust proposal adding the existing efforts together with all priorities identified by citizens to create exemplary solutions”, told Moyong to the gathering. Taking privilege, he also threw lights on various ongoing development projects including Pasighat road-network, Sirpo water project, successful commissioning of Aalo-Pasighat tower line, constructions of Poglek bridge, stadium, civilian terminal of Pasighat Airport and final survey of rail connectivity etc.

 

DC Tamiyo Tatak who has been guiding the Smart City team with views and suggestions stated that the overall approach focuses on promoting smart growth supported by technocrats and sound economic development principles, aligning the citizen’s aspirations and needs with city systems for sustainability and livability.

 

MEO cum Mission Officer, Ainstein Koyu presented a glimpse into the existing initiatives undertaken by PMC in implementing smart solutions. Once granted by the union ministry, the proposal would significantly improve citizen service delivery, transparency, accountability, and responsiveness PMC, Koyu added. 

 

Oshong Ering, IAS (Rtd), Assistant Town Planner (PMC) Tani Taloh, ABK Secretary HQ (East Siang) Tabung Ering and many prominent personalities of Pasighat exchanged their views on the occasion.
