PASIGHAT, Nov 12: Education Minister Taba Tedir has opined that the first state level Kho Kho championship to be held here from December 3-12 next will go a long way in encouraging the younger generation to take up and excel in traditional games and sports.
Tedir was addressing a coordination meeting with various stakeholders here at Siang Guest today. The minister who is also the President of Kho Kho Association of Arunachal Pradesh (KKAP), sought continued support from local MLA, Kaling Moyong and District Administration led by Dr. Kinny Singh and SP Rajiv Ranjan Singh and HoDs and the sports loving people of the centurion town to make the event successful. He said that the game of Kho Kho promotes mental agility and physical fitness and can be played by children and people of all ages and lauded the proactive efforts of DC East Siang for improvement of education sector in the district. He also called upon the DDSE, Principals, Headmasters and Teachers to continue to strive hard to provide quality education to students. Local MLA, Kaling Moyong and DC assured all support and cooperation for the successful conduct of the upcoming mega event. Around 800 players from various schools of all districts of the state will converge to take part and compete in this Under-17 age group championship.
Earlier, Director School Education, Gania Leij and General Secretary KKAP informed the aims and objectives of promoting traditional games and sports in the state under Khelo India initiative of the central government. ADC Taddo Borang, Principal IGJHSS, T. Taloh, Principal DEMGHSS, A Tayeng, Principal DIET, Biren Dutta, Headmasters of various schools and District Sports Officer, Nada Apa were among others present on the occasion.DIPRO
