PASIGHAT, Apr 26: With the aim of transforming Pasighat into a clean and traffic congestion free city, a coordination meeting was convened by the Deputy Commissioner East Siang, Dr. Kinny Singh on Thursday evening.
DC observed that the task of attaining total cleanliness has become more complicated with steady urbanization putting pressure on the prevailing system and more affluent consumers producing increasing volumes of trash. She sought coordinated efforts from all stakeholders for successful implementation of door to door solid waste collection and emphasized on the immediate identification of common collection points at ward level with proper signage for the convenience of the citizens. In this aspect, the DC said that the administrative officers and officers of Pasighat Municipal Council shall have to provide handholding support to the functionaries at household level as a part of awareness generation initially and further directed the executive engineer to prepare roster of personnel to be engaged for street sweeping on daily basis.
In order to tackle the vexing problem of traffic congestion, Dr. Singh stressed on proper planning of land use along with pay-parking system as the most desirable solution and gave direction to introduce parking charges on category/time wise basis within the designated municipal parking lots with immediate effect.
ADC(HQ) Tatdo Borang, Town Magistrate Henkir Lollen, administrative officers and officials of PMC, representatives of Donyi-Ane NGO and members of SHGs were present in the meeting.
Earlier, Chairman of Donyi Ane NGO, Paktin Bagbi informed that GPS tracking system would be introduced shortly in all sanitary vehicles which would help in monitoring efficient garbage collection. DIPRO
