PASIGHAT, Apr 24: Hundreds of people joined a protest march against domestic violence in Pasighat demanding the immediate arrest of one Kamin Taloh who brutally assaulted his wife Yalik Siram Taloh. The protest march that started from D.Ering School culminated at police station Pasighat, where agitators staged dharna demanding immediate arrest of the culprit.
Speaking to the media, Nalo Siram, father of the victim said that his daughter was brutally assaulted by Kamin Taloh leading to grievous head injury.  A video clip was also sent to him by the accused claiming that his daughter is behaving waywardly due to intoxication. Siram asserted that in fact the video showed his daughter having convulsions due to head injury, who only regained consciousness after ten hours.   The severity of the assault led her to undergo brain surgery at Dibrugarh, Assam, he informed.
Siram also disclosed that they were not allowed to meet the victim despite her repeated complaints.
Her in-laws lied that she had ran away from home whereas she was locked up in the house,  the father said.  “I appeal the concern authorities to take appropriate action against the accused persons,” added Siram. When contacted, Superintendent of Police, East Siang Prashant Gautam informed that a case has already been registered at the police station Pasighat under section 307 and 34 IPC against Kamin Taloh and one Oyon Taloh.  Oyon Taloh has been arrested and kept in custody, however Kamin Taloh, the main accused is still absconding, added the SP. Meanwhile, the North East Human Rights Organization (AP) General Secretary Buteng Tayeng also lodged a separate complaint with the police demanding justice for the victim. “Such incident is very depressing not only for the family members but for all the denizens of Pasighat and the state as a whole,” he added.
