PASIGHAT, Sep 7: All eyes will be on the century-old town of Pasighat for the next fifteen days starting from September 10 as 30 playing states will lock horns for the prestigious 25th Senior Women’s National Football Championship (WNFC).
Football fever has already gripped the town and Chief Minister Pema Khandu and Speaker PD Sona will grace the occasion as Chief Guest and Guest of Honour respectively while MoS Sports Kiren Rijiju and Sports Minister Mama Natung will be Special Guests among other dignitaries on the inauguration day. 450 girl students from KGBV are all set to perform a mega-dance item to enthrall audience in the spectacular opening ceremony.
Deputy Commissioner Dr. Kinny Singh who is closely monitoring all developments today assured that Pasighat is all set to host the national event in a befitting manner.
“We feel proud that we are organizing such a sports event of national importance in the centurion town of Pasighat and both CHF and Pasighat Stadiums are made up to the mark to host the national tourney successfully. We have ensured proper accommodation, sanitation and care of all the players and their associates and elaborate arrangements have been made for lodging, boarding and refreshment with mobilization of volunteers to oversee the safety and comfort of all participating teams, DC said. She further informed that concerned departments have been directed to ensure uninterrupted supply of power and water to the places where the team members and other guests will stay along with strict vigil to ensure congestion-free traffic, safety, security, harmony and brotherhood. The opening day matches will be free for all and for other matches soccer lovers have to pay a nominal entry charge, she added.
Meanwhile, Secretary of APFA, Kipa Ajay informed that participating teams have been divided into eight groups. A, B, C, D, E, F, G and H. Arunachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir and Telangana are in group H and the inaugural match will be played between Railways and Mizoram.
For the convenience of visitors/outsiders, temporary Inner Line Permit(ILP) will be issued in Ruksin gate near Pasighat. DIPRO
