Parshuramkund (Tezu), Jan 15: Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein on Tuesday announced to make the Parshuram Kund Mela a calendar event with the objective of boosting spiritual tourism in state. 
Mein made this announcement while making a survey of the tourist lodge, pilgrims’ guest house, transit hospital, mela office, police outpost and other infrastructure at the festival site accompanied by the officers of Lohit and Namsai District Administration. He also inspected the newly constructed approach road to Lord Parshuram temple. Enthused by huge footfall of .pilgrims at Parshuram Kund, which is a nationally important pilgrimage location in the lower reaches of Lohit river, DCM said that state government is contemplating to promote the site as one of the religious hotspots of the state. Mein also inaugurated the health camp and food stall set up by CRPF and the LED screen at festival site. Earlier, accompanied by MLAs of Namsai, Lekang and Anjaw, Chau Zingnu Namchoom, Jummum Ete Deori and  Dasanglu Pul respectively and former legislator of Chongkham Chow Tewa, he offered prayer and obeisance at the temple of Lord Parshuram. Giving details, Mein informed that he has directed the District Administration of the two districts to prepare a blueprint to make the religious event one of the biggest-ever and establish it as an annual calendar event at national and international levels, adding that it would also provide livelihood opportunities for locals through rural tourism. DCM specifically gave direction to create facilities for trekking from Tezu to Glow Lake which takes one day, along with hiking, river rafting and angling on Lohit river.
He lauded the efforts and dedication of the District Administration for working round the clock in providing better services and easy access to pilgrims and for making the festival a success and interacted with the shopkeepers,  pilgrims and sadhus at the festival site.
