Governor chairs high-level security review meeting
SEPPA, Mar 23: As a part of survey, a test flight of paragliding was conducted at Papu Valley recently. The gliders took off from Lumdung helipad and landed at bank of Papu River. Team led by Arunachal Paragliding Association President Vijay Sonam and Secretary Niku Tara along with Suren Gurung of Nepal and Raju Rai and Aita Raj Subbah from Sikkim. Paragliding survey at adjacent of Papu Valley is a part of adventure tourism potential that needs to be tapped.
The survey team identified the takeoff and landing site. Joining the survey team, Parliamentary Secretary Panchayat and Rural Development, Mama Natung exhorted that identified site could be an ideal site for paragliding, if it is fully developed.
“Once paragliding starts at Papu Valley, it will attract youngsters and adventure sports lovers to pursue it as career” Natung added. Youngsters can take up Paragliding as sports to compete at National and International level, adding that Chief Minister Pema Khandu government is striving to tap and promote youths in sports activities. Natung also joined test flight in tandem with a pilot. Later Natung along with Deputy Commissioner Guarav Singh inspected various ongoing construction of tourists complex at Lumdung, Lafangso and Papu river.
