Yupia, May 29: A meeting to discuss the District Domestic Product (DDP) modalities was held on Friday under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner, Papum Pare district Pige Ligu here in his office chamber.
DC highlighted the importance of DDP data in understanding local development, its role in formulating developmental plans and directed all the concerned source departments to provide accurate data to the District Statistics Office on a timely basis. District Statistical Officer E.M Riram briefed on DDP and presented a report containing the status of DDP data of Papum Pare district and requested all the defaulting departments to submit their respective data within earliest possible time. DFDO Kipa Taja suggested the DSO to prepare the DDP format in consultation with the concerned departments for supplementary information in addition to the submitted data.
The meeting was conducted by maintaining all Covid precautionary measures and was attended by Deputy Director of Agriculture, District Horticulture Officer, Assistant Mineral Development Officer, District Fishery Development Officer, Divisional Forest Officer and District Veterinary Officer.
District Domestic Product is a district’s income in monetary terms and volume of goods & services produced within its geographical boundaries during a given period of time accounted without duplication. DDP estimation is vital since it provides prior knowledge of economic development, improves local understanding of developmental process and the data help the planners to set priority areas in formulating developmental plans.
