ITANAGAR, Mar 14:

The Panchayat body of Chayang Tajo in East Kameng district has extended their support to the demands placed by the Seppa Chayang Tajo Road Steering Committee (SCTRSC).

In a representation submitted to the Arunachal Pradesh Governor Dr B D Mishra on March 12 last, the SCTRSC has sought strict action against Gammon India Pvt Ltd within seven days for failing to construct the 81 km long Seppa to Chayang Tajo road.

“We strongly support the demands raised by the SCTRSC. The state government should immediately set up a high-level enquiry committee to unearth the truth behind non-completion of 81 km long Seppa to Chayang Tajo road even after 10 long years of duration,” said Chayang Tajo Zilla Parishad Member Lama Bagang.

The ZPM also highly criticised the sluggish and poor quality road construction work being executed by the Gammon India Pvt Ltd under the supervision of state’s PWD. He further alleged that as a result of shoddy work blacktopping done most of the stretches are substandard and needs immediate improvement.

The construction and improvement of 81 km long Seppa to Chayang Tajo road under North East Council (NEC) was handed over to PWD, Chayang Tajo sub-division as per Govt order No. SPWD-162/2006, dated Itanagar 13th August 2009.
