ITANAGAR, May 5: Claiming that Congress candidate from 18- Palin Assembly constituency Takam Pario was involved in election-related violence and violation of Model Code of Conduct, the rival Janata Dal-United MLA candidate of this constituency Byabang Taj has demanded his counterpart's disqualification.
While clarifying on the controversy at Rakso polling station, Taj claimed that there was no violence in Rakso polling station and it was the Congress supporters who actually damaged the EVMs.“Moreover, Congress supporters captured booth in Sangram polling station both on April 11 and 27. Even the election agent of JDU was barred from entering the booth at Sangram,” he said addressing reporters at  Press Club.
“Although most of the voters had already cast their votes through postal ballots, they still tried to cast their votes in person at Rakso against which the villagers as a protest restricted them from entering the village. So there wasn’t any malpractices from JDU and it is the Congress which created nuisances in the constituency,” claimed Taj.
Further alleging that the Congress candidate has used unaccounted cash to lure voters, he said that there are video clips and images showing unaccounted cash being used to lure voters. We appeal the Election Commission to take immediate action against the Congress candidate and declare re-poll in Sangram polling station.
