ITANAGAR, Nov 30: The Pan Arunachal Joint Steering Committee (PAJSC) on Thursday organised a mass rally reiterating its 13-point charter of demands, from Dera Natung Government College (DNGC) to IG Park in the heart of the state capital.
Speaking to reporters, PAJSC Vice Chairman, Tadak Nalo said that the movement has finally completed a year and therefore, the pending demands of the committee should be addressed by the state government immediately. The issue is not confined to the committee but is for the entire people of the state, he said.
"If the issue is resolved, it will be an achievement for everyone and if not, it will be a collective failure. The people are well aware that if the issues are not resolved today, it will surely hamper the students in the future," Nalo said.
Nalo added that the committee has been trying to meet with the Chief Minister for a round table discussion, which the latter has been making futile excuses to avoid. Moreover, the statement by the Chief Secretary is very clear that he is not the competent authority to deal with the matter, he said.
“It’s our birth right to voice for our rights. So, until and unless our demands are resolved, the movement will continue in the future too. The state government can’t be so ignorant over the issue which concerns the future of the state,” he added.
Responding to the appeal of the Parents Joint Committee against Null & Void for a round table meeting, Nalo said that the PAJSC strongly believes that the meeting won’t bring any fruitful result. Rather, it is the state government who has the authority to bring a solution to it.
“Every individual or group has his own right to support or oppose it. The committee has also reserved the demand of "null and void", for legal scrutiny. Moreover, the particular demand has caused a standstill of the entire movement, and therefore overshadows the other crucial demands which deserve immediate address,” he added.
Nalo also appealed to members of the Parents Joint Committee against Null & Void to support and participate with the PAJSC in ensuring the fulfilment of the remaining 12-point demands.
