ITANAGAR, Nov 17: Award Ceremony of the State Level Painting Competition which was organised as a part of the National Campaign on Energy Conservation of the Union Ministry of Power by the Regional Office of NHPC Ltd. was conducted here on November 14 last.
NHPC was entrusted as the nodal agency to organize the Painting Competition for school children studying in Class-IV, V and VI standards. School Level competitions were conducted up to October 26 in association with Directorate of School Education, GoAP and State Designated Agency APEDA in which 18157 (Category A – 8169  and Category B – 9988) students from 102 schools of the state  participated. The themes for the competition were Category A-‘Spare a watt, Save a lot’ and ‘Turn off the light, when outside it’s bright’. For Category B, ‘It pays to be energy efficient’ and ‘It’s in your favour to be energy saver’ were the themes. The Jury Committee selected 55 best paintings from each category for the State Level Painting Competition which was held at Don Bosco Youth Centre, Vivek Vihar on November 14 with 44 participants from Category ‘A’ and 47 from Category ‘B’, hailing from far flung districts namely Papum Pare, Lower Dibang Valley, Lower Subansiri, East Kameng, East Siang, Kamle, West Siang, Leparada, Upper Siang, Tawang, Tirap, Changlang and Lohit.
In Category A, the winners were Chukhu Teji, Class VI, VKV, PTC, Banderdewa, Papumpare, Priyam Nath, Class VI, Malancha Art Academy, Papumpare, Niraj Paul, Class VI, KV No. 1, Naharlagun, Papumpare as 1st, 2nd and 3rd  respectively. In Category B, Kritika Barman, Class VIII, VKV, Vivek Vihar, Itanagar Papumpare, Rago Taku, Class IX, Green Mount School Papumpare, Tojom Ete, Class IX, DPS, Itanagar, Papumpare were the first three winners. The first, second and third prizes of both categories carried cash prizes of Rs. 50000, Rs. 30000 and Rs. 20000 respectively along with certificates, while consolation prizes of both categories carried cash prizes of Rs. 7500 along with certificate.
The ceremony was attended by bureaucrats, technocrats, senior officers of the State and Central governments besides the participating children, parents and their school authorities. MLA 25th Raga AC Tarin Dakpe was the Chief Guest with cultural troops from D.P.M School for the Hearing Impaired Chimpu and Hornbill English School Itanagar showcasing their artistic talents.
