ITANAGAR, Apr 16:A one day State level orientation workshop on “Laqshya” was conducted on April 14 last at Banquet Hall, Itanagar by the State Health Society, Naharlagun.
In his address, Pogramme Management Unit, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Dr. Mahtab Singh explained about Laqshya, launched by GoI last year aimed to improve quality of care in labour room and maternity operation theatre.
He further explained in length about role and functions of Obstetrics & ICUs/HDUs in India and also dwelt at length on respectful maternity care.
Consultant Quality Improvement from Regional Resource Centre-North East States, Anup J. Basistha explained in length on baseline assessment, reporting & monitoring mechanism for Laqshya and facility level implementation of Laqshya.
He also informed about the criteria for certification of Laqshya and monetary incentive that is included under the certification.
Meanwhile, Mission Director, NHM, Dr. Tapasya Raghav, in her address informed that only six districts in the state have been identified initially for implementing the Laqshya scheme. She stated that NGOs that are expert in the field would be roped in to ensure successful implementation of the scheme in the state.
