Legal Aid Clinic set up in Rajya Sainik Board
ITANAGAR, Apr 28:
State Legal Services Authority organized a day-long orientation training for retainer, remand advocates and legal aid counsels of various courts and legal aid clinics at banquet hall, Itanagar today.
About fifty four advocates from various parts of the state participated in the programme which was chaired by Member Secretary, National Legal Services Authority, New Delhi, Alok Agarwal, Special Secretary, Delhi Legal Services Authority, Geetanjali Goel and Member Secretary, APSLSA, Budi Habung.
Agarwal spoke on the concept of access to justice by every citizen of India through a presentation on the constitutional perspective of access to legal aid. He also threw light on the various NALSA Schemes which is currently implemented by all Legal Services Authorities in the country.
Geetanjali Goel, Special Secretary, DLSA, New Delhi dwelt on the roles and responsibilities of legal services lawyers. She further informed on requirement of good communication skills as a legal aid lawyer, Do’s and Dont’s for Remand Lawyers etc.
Member Secretary, APSLSA, Budi Habung, in his brief presentation highlighted the steps of criminal trial with reference to the system of Retainer Lawyers and Remand Lawyers Scheme, Matter of arrest, bail, evidence, arguments, etc. NALSA documentary and short clipping on access to justice was also screened.
