ITANAGAR, Nov 4:  Expressing its concern over the Namsai arson incident, the Northeast Human Rights Organization(NEHRO)- State Unit  has urged the authority to immediately release adequate compensation to the victims and arrest the culprits involved.
Addressing a press conference, Vice President-NEHRO-AP Unit SD Loda said that it is not about criticizing any community, but justice must be  given to the victims. In relation to the incident, NEHRO has also lodged a complaint in the National Human Rights Organization (NHRO) against the District Administration for the lackadaisical attitude shown in resolving the case, added Loda.
When asked about illegal encroachment in the Reserve Forest Area that may have triggered the arson, he said that even if the villagers have encroached the forest area, but that does not confer  rights  to anyone to  torch their houses. There are District Administration and Forest Department to act as per the laid down norms but setting fire is not at all justified, Loda said. He further opined that culprits involved in the incident of October 12 are yet to be arrested. While citing Article 21 of the Constitution, he further stated that as per this article no person shall be deprived of his life or personal liberty which includes right to live with human dignity, right to livelihood etc. except according to procedure established by law, but in this case it has been a failure of the DA.
It may be recalled that on  October 12 last, a  group of miscreants set fire at least 14 houses in New Mabira village and another 4 houses on October 24 at Mabira Village in  Chongkham Circle of Namsai district.
All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union (AAPSU) taking note of the communal violence which broke out at Namsai has appointed a peace making committee headed by VP Dr. Tayuk Sonam which will be visiting Namsai soon. AAPSU President Hawa Bagang has appealed all stakeholders and community to calm down and let peace prevail. The union also sought cooperation of all the people to solve the issue amicably.
