ITANAGAR, Jan 18: A female pillion rider died on the spot while her brother sustained serious injuries in a road accident on National Highway-415, near Civil Secretariat on Saturday afternoon.
The deceased has been identified as Punyo Yami Tacha, wife of Tacha John of Village Jullang, Tarasso circle of Papum Pare district while the seriously injured person was identified as Punyo Tabin of Hong village, Ziro.
The accident took place around 1 pm when the sibling duo on a Royal Enfield Bullet were coming from Bank Tinali towards Ganga Market. The rider who suffered fractures is admitted to RK Mission Hospital for treatment.
Meanwhile, in an FIR lodged by the deceased husband at the Itanagar police station stated that the vehicle which hit the duo was suspected to belong to the police.
“We the family members demand immediate action and arrest of the driver,” the FIR added.
Meanwhile, when contacted Itanagar Police station OC, M Geyi informed that on receipt of information an IO was immediately sent to the spot who later also visited the victims at the hospital.
“A case has been registered at Itanagar Police station-wide Ita PS Case N0- 19/2020 u/s 279, 304 (A) IPC. We are looking for CCTV footage of the incident and investigation is still on,” the OC told.
