TAWANG, Apr 19: Secretary, Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Government of India D.S.Mishra along with his deputy Kunal Kumar, Joint Secretary Ministry of Power A.Kumar and Secretary Department of Housing & Urban Development,   Government of Arunachal Pradesh SK Jain today visited Tawang and discussed about the various central urban schemes being implemented in the district. 
The visiting officials had an informal interactive meeting with the beneficiaries of various schemes under urban development at Zomkhang Hall in circuit house. Deputy Commissioner Tawang Sang Phuntsok informed that Tawang has been declared the first Open Defecation Free (ODF) district and also the cleanest district in entire Northeast which has resulted in increase in  tourist inflow.DC also highlighted the   urgent need for solid waste disposal management system and proper sewerage facilities in Tawang.
Interacting with the beneficiaries DS Mishra said “Tawang has already achieved ODF in Swaach Bharat Mission(Gramin) and I hope the people living in urban areas will also achieve the same.” In reply to the request made to his ministry for sewerage system he said that fecal sludge septic management system will be more appropriate for Tawang.He also discussed about other schemes under his ministry and asked the beneficiaries about the benefits and shortcomings if any.
The HoDs and beneficiaries of PMAY and IHHL schemes gave a traditional welcome to the visiting officers with khada at the circuit house. DIPRO
