ITANAGAR, Apr 19: The Nyishi community observed its ‘XIIth Nyishi Day’ in a befitting manner here at Nyishi Elite Society (NES) secretariat on Friday. On this day, the nomenclature of one of the largest tribes of the state was converted from Dafla to Nyishi.

‘Nyishi need to be united for peace, prosperity and all-round development of the community and the state,' added the NES President. He further appealed the members to encourage youths to use their own dialect to promote and preserve the indigenous culture and tradition.
Beside NES representatives, students, government employees, public leaders and other dignitaries from the community attended the event.
Cultural display, games & sports and exhibition stalls of traditional art and crafts were the highlight of the celebration.
