ITANAGAR, Apr 3:The National Students’ Union of India (NSUI), state Unit today submitted a four point memorandum to APCC President, Takam Sanjoy, MP, Ninong Ering and Mukut Mithi etc and requested their immediate intervention in solving few issues concerning the union.
Asserting that the state as well as at central level there are many commissions such as the human rightS commission, women’s commission, etc to protect the rights of the concerned section of people, it requested for creation of Students’ Right Commission or Student Courts, where students can take their problems and then resolved it in a faster way.
It also called for further modification in guidelines and rules made by Lyngdoh Committee over the Students’ Union Election system to give more opportunity to students to actively participate in the democratic system.
The union claimed that after the Committee proposed few recommendations in the year 2001 in Election procedures, since then there has been no any further changes made to deal with present democratic requirements.
Also referring to degrading employment situation in the country, it suggested to bring in the legislation for providing unemployment allowances for those who deserve it and are in need for it, the amount subject to their qualifications.
It later also called for relaxation in age criteria to contest parliament election as well as legislative Assembly.
