BORDUMSA, Nov 17:

 

In a prolong gun battle between Khonsa based security forces of the Indian Army and NSCN militants, one cadre was slain by security forces here near Laptang Village in Tirap district on Saturday morning.

 

The incident took place when security forces on receiving information of extortion drive by militants in the area conducted a combing operation when suddenly cadres opened fire at them in an attempt to escape. 

 

According to the Army, one of the militant was slain during retaliatory fire while the other militant managed to escape in the dense vegetation.

 

An HK 33 automatic rifle, large quantities of ammunition and other incriminating evidence were recovered from the possession of the slain rebel who was yet to be identified till filling of this report.
