ITANAGAR, Nov 24:
The State unit of National People’s Party (NPP) in a release has strongly condemned the atrocity meted out by Indian Army to the villagers of Longkhjon village under Longding District recently saying that that it is wrong to use Armed Forces Special Powers Act to harass innocent civilians.
“Anything done by the villagers at gunpoint to save their lives cannot be treated as a crime and therefore army personnel beating up the innocent villagers for carrying the dead body of the militant is a totally inhuman act,” it condemned.
It further urged the state government to initiate necessary action against the army personnel involved. It also demanded the Centre for revocation of AFSPA from the state to ensure the safety of the people from unnecessary harassment by the Indian Army.
