ITANAGAR, Apr 21: State President of National People’s Party (NPP) Gicho Kabak has submitted a representation to the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of the state seeking re-poll with deployment of sufficient police forces for free and fair conduct of the re-polling after reports of poll violence and booth capturing in various polling stations of 21-Koloriang Assembly Constituency, Kurung Kumey district.
In a press communique, NPP President alleged that as per the report from the District Committee of NPP Kurung Kumey, BJP workers indulged in booth capturing and so re-poll is necessary at the Parsi-Parlo, Taba, Nampe, Damin and Nyokuriang polling stations under 21-Koloriang Assembly Constituency.
Supporters of the NPP candidate were not allowed to reach polling stations for casting of their votes and a protest rally was organised by the NPP workers at Koloriang recently. The District Election Officer (DEO) Kurung Kumey has been apprised and the matter has also been reported to the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of the state. But till date, no action has been taken by the Election Commission for re-polling at the above mentioned polling stations, claimed NPP President in its press statement.
