ITANAGAR, Apr 10: According to Friday’s State Covid-19 Bulletin, the number of positive cases in Arunachal Pradesh remains at one.
The day’s bulletin issued by the state’s Directorate of Health Services has specifically tried to address the issue of social stigmatisation associated with Covid-19. It stated that it is highly unfortunate that people affected with the virus and the frontline warriors comprising the healthcare workers, sanitary workers and police are facing discrimination on account of heightened fear and misinformation. Even those who have recovered from Covid-19 are facing such discrimination and certain communities and areas are being labelled purely based on false reports floating on social media and elsewhere, the report remarked.
Reminding the state’s people that such behaviour may culminate into increased hostility, chaos and unnecessary social disruptions, the report has highlighted the urgent need to counter such prejudices. In clear words, the report has underlined that although Covid-19 is a highly contagious disease which spreads fast and can infect any one, protection can be ensured through social distancing, washing hands regularly and following the sneezing/coughing etiquettes. Despite all precautions, if anybody catches the infection, it is not their fault and in this situation of distress, the patient and the family need support and most importantly the disease is curable and most people recover from it, the report added. An appeal has also been made to the people of the state to extend all possible support to these frontline fighters of the pandemic.
Meanwhile, the daily status on sample collection/test tells that as on Friday, taking into account all the districts of Arunachal Pradesh, out of 213 samples collected, 205 have tested negative and 6 results are awaited.
