ROING, Mar 16: The on-going one month duration Tailoring and Handicraft programme for 40 underprivileged women and girls of Dibang & Lower Dibang Valley today underwent inspection by its patron, NHPC Dibang Multipurpose Project.
The training programme commenced on March 1 at Department of Textile and Handicraft, Arunachal Pradesh and is a part of NHPC’s Skill Development programme under Corporate Social Responsibility & Sustainable Development Scheme.
The inspection was carried out by Chief General Manager, Dibang Multipurpose Project Biswajit Basu, along with other senior officers of NHPC.The training aims to empower women in the field of entrepreneurship and self-sustenance and includes tailoring and handicraft classes through regular coaching by experts.
Basu appreciated the efforts made by the women and girls to develop their skills and in the process earn livelihood. The programme is facilitated by members of Self Help Group- ABBE GEBA NEH who also thanked the CGM for his encouragement.
All trainees will be provided with a foot sewing machine by NHPC, Dibang Multipurpose Project after successful completion of their training. NHPC Press Release
