Shergaon, Feb 22: A career counselling cum motivational talk for the students of Government Secondary School and VKV Shergaon School was conducted by Halo Society, a registered NGO led by its Chairman Er Nabam Taga.
Members of the society currently working in different fields shared their experiences regarding choosing of careers. Dr. Joram Beda, IAS who was one of the speakers shared his experience regarding competitive exams. The alumni of the VKV Shergaon who are also members of the Halo Society donated a PA System to the school. Principal Satish Kumar thanked the members of the Society for motivating the students. Before the event, the Society also donated books to the Garung Thuk Community Library which is based in Shergaon and caters to village children with quality books. The library is also the winner of the Best Innovative Library award at this year’s Hyderabad Literary Festival 2020 which is run by a local NGO named Garung Thuk. Its Chairman Ledo Thungon thanked the Society for the books and promised that it will reach the needy readers of the village.
The Society also interacted with Seinthuk Women Self Help Group which runs at weaving centre at Shergaon where the members learnt the story of revival of handloom weaving practices of the Sherdukpen tribe. DIPRO
