ITANAGAR, Aug 10: In a meeting held between representatives of North East Students organization (NESO) and All Arunachal Pradesh Students Union (AAPSU) here on Friday, it was resolved to work side by side for successful conduct of “Operation Clean Drive’ launched by AAPSU to check possible infiltration of illegal immigrants into the state.

Organizing secretary, NESO state Unit, Marge Riba and Coordinator, NESO, Pritam Sonam highlighted the demand for NRC in all the North Eastern states as made by NESO. Endorsing their demands, General Secretary, Tobom Dai stated that the base year of 1971 currently adopted for NRC in Assam cannot be unanimously   implemented for the state of Arunachal because refugees from Bangladesh entered the state way before 1971.

Appealing to all indigenous people of the state to support the cause of AAPSU, NESO members urged the AAPSU team to ensure that genuine citizens are not harassed during the conduct of the entire operation.
