ITANAGAR, Sep 15: Continuing with its school adoption programme, Nyishi Elite Society (NES) has adopted GHSS, Nyapin in Kurung Kumey district and GHSS Palin in Kra-Daadi district.
At Nyapin, adoption of Government Higher Secondary School Nyapin was formally launched jointly by President, NES Bengia Tolum and local MLA and Home Minister Bamang Felix in presence of Deputy Commissioner, Koloriang, Kento Riba, HoDs and public on September 13 last.
The school was established in 1958 as LP School, upgraded to Middle School in 1968, Secondary School in 1978 and finally emerged as a Higher Secondary School in 1988.
Felix extended thanks to NES for exercising prudence while selecting Nyapin HS School for adoption and replying to the President for immediate vacating of the boy’s hostel, he informed that he is seriously working to shift the Tadar Taniang Government College from the hostel to its permanent site by completing infrastructure of the new college soon.
Tolum in his presidential address appreciated the initiatives of the Alumni Association and clarified the wrong impressions of general public that NES will start funding the adopted schools and reiterated that NES is only a motivator for the adopted schools and not a funding authority. He also highlighted the broad objectives, modalities and purposes of school adoption and guidelines framed in this regard.
A similar programme was held at Palin in presence of NES member, local MLA Balo Raja and 20-Tali Jikke Tako of Kra-Daadi on September 14 last. Local MLA Balo Raja while extending gratefulness to the NES team gave a detailed recount on his services to the people of his constituency in his personal capacity and as their representative (2004-2009). Tako assured all possible assistance and announced to construct an assembly shed at GHSS, Palin.
