KHONSA, Jul 10: The Tirap Community Resource Management Society under the aegis of the North Eastern Region Community Resource Management Project for upland areas (NERCORMP) held its 2nd Executive Board of Management meeting here today. NERCORMP is a joint livelihood project of the NEC, Ministry of DoNER, Govt. of India and IFAD operating in the NE Region since 1999.

The meeting was attended by all the Board Members comprising of the Department of Agriculture, APEDA, Rural Works Department, Animal Husbandry & Veterinary, Textile & Handloom, Industries, Forest & Environment, DRDA, Spices Board, NABARD, Lead Bank, APSC APEX Bank,  Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Resource Persons, Community and  NGO Representatives along with the NERCORMP District officials.

Chairing the meeting, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Techu Aran, suggested that NERCORMP take up such livelihood activities for the benefit of the communities which are tangible and sustainable. He requested the line departments and other agencies comprising the board to extend technical and financial convergence with NERCORMP to achieve larger impact of the livelihood project.

Ruzing Bellai, District Project Director of NERCORMP, Tirap CRMS gave a detailed report on the status of implementation of NERCORMP project in both Tirap and Longding districts. He informed the Board Members that NERCORMP is going to adopt the mechanism of collective production and marketing of the livelihood products to ensure larger coverage of the benefits of the project activities in lesser time.

 He explained in detail to the board about the STINER and other initiatives undertaken by NEC and Ministry of DoNER for the benefit of the project communities through NERCORMP.

Speaking on the occasion, Kamal Roy, District Development Managar, NABARD, stressed on the importance of the Animal Husbandry Sector in general and Dairy sector in particular in influencing the livelihood patterns of the rural population of the district. He gave presentation on the Dairy Entrepreneurship Development Scheme (DEDS) along with schemes such as GSS viz., NLM, CM’s Sashakt Kisan Yojana, CM’s Krishi Samuh Yojana, Arunachal Agri Start- up scheme, Agri Clinic Business Scheme, DDU Bunker Yojana and CM’s Krishi Rinn Yojana.

The Board unanimously agreed to all the Agendas placed for ratification by the District Project Director cum Member Secretary of the Tirap Community Resource Management Society. The Board Members agreed to take up schemes in convergence with the project activities of NERCORMP and assured to provide technical support whenever required by the project. LDM, SBI assured the board members to provide credit linkage to the SHGs and its federations promoted by NERCORMP. The Department of Agriculture gave assurance to support the NERCORMP project communities in the field of Non-farm sector activities and large scale cultivation of the vegetables. Both the KVKs of Tirap and Longding assured to provide the required technical support as and when required by the team.
